When it comes to redfish, I’m sure I sound like a broken record, but they’re simply my favorite species to fish for. It’s not only the engaging techniques, the exciting fight, or even the amazing taste of the fish that draws me in, it’s also the feeling of being out on the marshy flats with the warm ocean breeze on my face. If that sounds like your kind of fishing trip, then I think you’ll go nuts for my latest Getaway, the Redfish Lodge in Rockport, Texas.
Nestled in Copano Bay on the Gulf Coast, the Redfish Lodge is located on a mile-long peninsula, called Rattlesnake Point, which splits the bay and a vast marshland. This allows you to walk out of the lodge and see water all around you every morning—something every fisherman dreams of.
The fishing guides take eager guests of the lodge to the surrounding bays, where they can seek out redfish or speckled trout in water ranging anywhere from six inches to five feet deep. Their experienced and knowledgeable guides can put anyone on the fish, no matter the weather conditions, temperatures, or any other variable that can challenge newcomers. The lodge is home to six boats that can easily accommodate three guests for an exciting day on the water. Tackle and bait are provided by the lodge, and consists of standard inshore equipment. Furthermore, the five-hundred foot pier is equipped with green lighting for anyone who wishes to partake in the excitement of night fishing.
The Redfish Lodge itself is equipped to house up to eighteen visitors in two guest houses. Both buildings boast wrap around porches with vast views of the water. Each room has a private bathroom, central air, two double beds and a television with satellite. Also, if you desire a more private setting for up to eight guests, you can reserve the luxurious Ruddy Lodge. This secluded, fully furnished, 3600 square-foot home has its own staff and operates separately from the main lodge, which makes it the ultimate getaway for anyone looking for a little more privacy on their trip.
Whether you’re seeking a place to sleep while you enjoy the wide open flats of the coast or looking for the ultimate luxurious destination for you and your fellow travelers, the Redfish Lodge in Rockport, Texas is the ultimate getaway for any inshore enthusiast. Be sure to book your stay soon, as the lodge fills up quickly. I’m actually thinking of checking it out myself this season. Who knows? You may see me there. I’ll be the guy on the water all day long!
