Arnold Schwarzenegger Charged by African Elephant on Safari

After a massive elephant charged the jeep carrying Arnold Schwarzenegger on safari in South Africa, the former California governor wrote that “some of us had to change our pants.”

He was likely exaggerated (we hope) but the situation was no less frightening. The incident, which Schwarzenegger posted to his Youtube channel recently, shows an elephant getting agitated as they tried to pass in a jeep.

At first it looks like the elephant is backing away, but when they eventually pass it gives chase. In his comments with the video, Arnold said it could have been a scene from a movie.

“I’m absolutely in awe of these beautiful, strong animals,” he wrote.  “We need to stop killing them – take a photo, not a shot. Would you rather be able to experience these creatures or a hunk of ivory? I thought so.”

The issue of African trophy hunting has come under increased fire after the controversial killing of Cecil the lion outside a wildlife sanctuary last year. Donald Trump Jr. has also drawn fire for hunting African big game animals, including elephants.
