Polaris Switchback Snowmobiles

polaris logoThe Polaris Switchback lineup of snowmobiles has something for every type of rider. The Pro-S model gives riders the ultimate cornering and handling control, and is a sled designed to eliminate stutter bumps. The Pro-X model appeals primarily to stand-up riders, and has the power needed to dominate a rough terrain of ditches and moguls. The Adventure model is the most versatile choice; a sled that’s adaptable enough for fun both on and off trails.

It’s hardly a surprise that the Polaris Switchback line is so popular. This Minnesota-based manufacturer knows a thing or two about outdoor recreational vehicles. In addition to snowmobiles, the company makes a line of side-by-sides, electronic neighborhood vehicles, Victory and Indian motorcycles, and fields a big selection of All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) for both work and play.

These newest model sleds feature a rider-balanced chassis, with redesigned rear suspension that allows the sled pitch to be controlled by the suspension rate rather than the spring rate. This gives a flatter ride through the corners and over bumps. While these sleds have more power, their weight has been carefully reduced. The rear crank is manufactured with lightweight forged aluminum, and the crank and pivot are also redesigned. On Switchback sleds, the front torque arm has moved rearward to control the pitch and improve rail profile. Acceleration on these sleds is class-leading, in the flats or corner to corner and there’s plenty of power from the 800 Cleanfire H.O. engine. Other Switchback features include a lighter new throttle body, high-efficiency intake and exhaust, 3-stage electronically controlled exhaust valves, and electronic oil pump. The sleds have a thermostat with bypass, so they warm up to operating temperature 40% faster than older models, and that also helps improve their durability.

Need to stay connected even while you recreate? The sled’s interactive digital display is personalized for the driver and easy to operate. Not only can you sync your smart phone and Bluetooth, the display helps you map trails and provides GPS settings, handles sled security – lock it up with your personal code – and informs you of any maintenance issues. If you spot a problem, get immediate on-board diagnostics.
