Billabong President Does What You Expect: Quits to Surf

When you are the president of most corporations in America, it might come as a shock to hear that a CEO was throwing in the hat to spend more time surfing, but not when you’re the head of Billabong.

The president of the international surfing apparel’s US division, Ed Leasure, recently announced he would be stepping down to, you guessed it, spend more time surfing.

Leasure’s nine years with Billabong cap a 40 year career in sports apparel, beginning first by shaping his own surfboards in Cocoa Beach, Florida and running a chain of surf stores.

Leasure began working for Billabong after the company purchased his chain called Quiet Flight and has since helped the corporation expand its retail stores and relationships with wholesalers.

“After getting into the business to surf more, I’m now stepping back from the business to surf more,” Leasure said in a company press release.
