WATCH: Bear Climbs Electric Pole, Raids Eggs

To anyone who ever doubted the ability of a bear to climb, check out this video from O.F. Mossberg & Sons — a hunting outfitter in Alberta, Canada — which shows a bear climbing an electric pole.

The clip shot by the company’s media relations director shows a bear raiding a bird’s next toward the top of a utility pole. The two birds guarding their young are virtually helpless as they look on.

If there’s something to learn from this video it’s that bears will go to great length to get to food. That’s why keeping your campsite bear-proof and hanging your food as high up in a tree as possible at least 200 feet from your campsite  is always a good idea.

We have also seen bears do some truly hilarious things as their minds work to get to food or make themselves more comfortable. One bear caught on camera in Alberta dangles from a clothesline trying to get to a beaver carcass.
