Meet the 1,000-Pound Grizzly Bear That Paints

Artists come in all shapes and sizes. Over the years we’ve seen paintings sell for top dollar that were produced by elephants, small children and even highly inebriated adults.

Now comes a 1,000 pound grizzly bear that paints master works of art, or at least that’s up to the beholder. But to be honest, they’re not bad.

So far, there are about 15 owners of artwork produced by Juuso the bear at a wild animal sanctuary in Finland. The 10-year-old bear was reportedly brought to the refuge as an orphaned cub.

Over the years his handlers have taken to cultivating his painting skills. Recently, officials at the Kuusamo Large Carnivore Centre in Northern Finland released a video of the painting prodigy in the act.

Watch as Juuso rubs against the canvas and presses his paws to print while his handlers apply the paint, donned in a beret, mind you.

The bear’s paintings are currently being sold for 300 Euros or 322 US Dollars on the sanctuary’s web page as a way to raise money for the refuge.
