San Diego Angler Lands 102-Pound Blue Catfish

A bass fisherman competing in a tournament in San Diego hooked a massive blue catfish weighing more than 100-pounds. Although it fell short of the state record, how he caught this whopper made it exceptionally difficult.

Set up on a 8 lb test on a spinning rod, considered small for the 4 lb bass let along a 102 pound 9 ounce catfish, angler Noy Vilanysane spent about an hour to real in this bad boy at Lower Otay Lake in San Diego County in October.

Noy posted the last moments of the fight on Instagram and the catch was documented at SDFish.com. The giant blue catfish set a 10-year standing lake record but fell slightly short of the state record at 113 pound 5 ounces.
